WHAT IS A SAVINGS AND CREDIT COOPERATIVE?

How does a credit union differ from a bank loan? Credit unions are nonprofit organizations created to serve their members. Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans, and offer a wide variety of other financial services. But as cooperative and member-owned institutions, credit unions provide a safe space to save and borrow at reasonable rates.

YOU ARE MORE THAN A PARTNER, YOU ARE A CO-OWNER.

Credit unions are owned and controlled by the people, or members, who use their services.

Your vote counts. Members elect a volunteer board of directors to manage the credit union.

NON PROFIT

Savings and credit cooperatives act to promote the welfare of their members.

Profits earned by credit unions go back to their members in the form of reduced fees, higher savings rates, and lower loan rates.
